Friends of Thorpe Abbotts Church

All Saints, Thorpe Abbotts

The most recent work of internal decoration, roof work and installation of floodlighting (2003) have been funded by the Friends of Thorpe Abbotts Church (FOTAC), other bodies and the very generous support of the parish.

Update January 2008

Quietly active in the back ground as ever FOTAC has been overseeing the repair of the windows. The one in the north wall next to the pulpit has had a number of its panes broken for some time, the victim of flying stones from the mower a few years ago. The opening window in the chancel has now been repaired and with its new rope is now fully functional. Mind you with being well in the middle of winter it is remainming fairly closed at the moment. Just one window to repair and that is the other opener which has had to go away to the workshop.

We also now have a sound system installed. Including of course a loop it has both a roving mic as well as a fixed one for the Pulpit/Lectern. Whilst the acoustics within the church are very good indeed we do suffer from traffic noise so the system is welcome indeed. This was again very generously fuinded by FOTAC.

We are looking to have water installed to provide both a loo and sink somewhere. The other day we welcomed some 18 memberrs of the Diocesian Advisory Board (DAC) to discuss the type of installation they would be likely to approve. It really was a delight to welcome them all and we are now in a much better position to progress both loo and sink which we will try to get in for 2008.

David Wigan who sadly passed away last year very generously left a small bequest to the Church which will be put towards the Loo and Sink project.
